We are pretty excited about the new carbon mast range from Axis – we have been reliably told that the new masts are super stiff, in-fact any carbon mast that is stiffer than the Axis alloy mast is really saying something.

The big development in the new Ultra HM Pro carbon mast is its new construction from military grade carbon so it is stiffer than the current HM mast but the big difference is its shape.  The mast has been refined in its profile as the mast nears the join to the fuse the profile which generally sits under water is now a thinner and narrower cord (12.5mm reduction in chord size) and this results in a 20% less drag over the current HM mast.
