Ezzy is launching at the end of January the new 2021 Ezzywave sail – this has had some considerable upgrades to the handling of the sail and its seam shaping. Dave Ezzy has developed the Ezzywave initially from the concept of the Taka range but with the complete fourth batten rather than a three and a half batten like the Taka.
What they found out with their testing was that they were able to create a sail with the same stability as the Wave of previous seasons, a lighter weight X-Ply window and a more neutral feel to the sail when you depower. In short, the sail will feel lighter in your hands, have the same top end wind range, will have a better low-end power and a more effective depower when you are in transitions or gybes.
The sail is popular with wave sailors and free riders and they have added an extra size sail – a 6.3m for 2021 (the 5.8 and 6.3 both have a fifth batten).
When you take a close look at the Ezzywave 2021 the build quality is as always perfect – each sail has been rigged and tested at the Ezzy Custom Factory in Sri Lanka before leaving and Ezzy has his own setting guides to help get the perfect outhaul and downhaul combination – so you can tune your sail if the wind changes during your session out on the water.
You can set your Ezzy sails on other branded masts, but the perfect settings are the Ezzy RDM masts.
At 2XS we have coming a full set of Ezzywave’s which will be in our Test Centre at West Wittering beach for the 2021 season.
